Guidance: Get into advertisers’ heads

Activities on the impact of advertisements on our consumption habits

Group activity designed to stimulate discussion and awareness of the impact of advertisements on our consumption habits and the manipulations exerted on us by advertisers.

The activity has two parts:

Part 1: Viewing and analyzing advertisements (in the plenum) – In this section we will get to know the principles and emotional manipulations common in the world of advertising.

Part 2: Experience writing an advertisement proposal (in groups) – In this section we will apply the principles we learned and feel the potential gap between the image and reality.

What is the purpose?

Illustrate the manipulation of advertisements, and how it affects our consumption habits.

What to do?

  • Watch and analyze advertisements
  • Drafting a proposal for an advertisement using manipulations customary in the advertising world.

What is needed?

  • Computer+ Projector
  • Small notes, stationery, and a hat or box to collect the notes
  • Activity guidelines – get into advertisers’ heads
  • Stationery and crafts (bristles, markers, paints, etc.)
