In accordance with the fourth Mitzvah of Purim, Paamonim traditionally carries out the Mizvah of handing out Matanot L’evyonim to families accompanied by Paamonim, to those who are most in need.
The Mitzvah is conducted by our remarkable volunteers, who devote endless hours of their time in supporting households on their journey towards financial freedom. By doing this our Volunteers not only increase the festivity and joy of the families on the day of Purim, but also strengthen the mutual bonding between both parties.
This is how it works:
By making a donation to Paamonim, via our secure online platform, via Bit app or by calling us on 1-800-35-10-12, you appoint us to act as your personal messenger. All donations are directly delivered to needy families on the day of Purim, in compliance with the Mitzvah of “on the same day”, and as a contribution to families and individuals working extremely hard towards reaching financial recovery.
How are you able to transfer my donation on the day when my credit card is only charged at the end of the month?
Paamonim sets aside a large sum of money ahead of Purim, explicitly designated for this purpose.
Who are the beneficiaries of the money?
The money is transferred to needy families carefully selected amongst those in our care, and currently engaged in the process of financial recovery, making it difficult for them to celebrate Purim festivities.
Your donation will lift their spirits and will provide them an opportunity to enjoy the festivities of Purim during the difficult process of recovery.
According to the Halacha one must give a “gift” to two different people. How do you ensure realization of this obligation?
Each donation is distributed between two separate families in need, ensuring our donors fulfill their obligation of Matanot L’evyonim.
How much money should on donate in order to fulfill the Mitzvah in compliance with the obligation and higher level- Hidur Mitzvah?
The more the merrier, and the more one adds the more he will be blessed in the heavens. Rabbis and Chazal, did not mark a specific monetary value beyond a Shave Pruta– equal to dime; however, they do note that the amount should be enough to purchase a meal for an average family.
Who is obligated to give Matanot L’evyonim?
Every Jew, man and woman, who is of the age of obligation by Mitzvot.
Is there any value in making a donation before Purim?
Absolutely. Donating in advance will allow us to put aside the necessary funds prior to Purim, ensuring each donor fulfills their obligation of the Mitzvah to the fullest.
Does Paamonim take responsibility for the initiative? Why?
Paamonim takes full responsibility for this initiative. During the course of the year we help families emerge from financial crisis, and are therefore totally aware of their conditions. Details of each family that undergoes our economic recovery process are logged on our CRM database, together with the monetary support they will receive with your Purim donations. Paamonim operates nationwide in Israel, and selects the recipients of your Matanot L’evyonim ahead of time, ensuring that your obligation of the Mitzvah is fulfilled on the day.
