Question: How does it work?

Answer: Donate your Matanot L’evyonim to Paamonim at any time- before Purim or on Purim day, by credit card through this secure site. Donationד will be hand-delivered by Paamonim volunteers to needy families on Purim day itself, fulfilling your obligation of the Mitzvah of Matanot L’evyonim.

Question: My credit card will only be charged next month, how will my donation be transferred on Purim day?

Answer: Paamonim designates a large sum of money for Matanot L’evyonim that is set aside before Purim. Those funds are transferred to families on Purim day in order to ensure that you fulfill the Mtzvah of Matanot L’evyonim no matter what payment method you use.

Question: Who exactly is the money donated to?

Answer: Donations are given to needy families who are currently in the process of Paamonim’s financial rehabilitation program. These families are chosen because they are in severe financial distress, making it difficult for them to celebrate Purim with the festivities and happiness that is the essence of the holiday. Your donations will lift their spirits and give them the opportunity to celebrate with joy and with happiness, and will also boost their moral throughout their rehabilitation process with Paamonim.

Question: The Halacha states that one must give a “gift” to two different people. How do you make sure this part of the obligation is fulfilled?

Answer: Each donation we receive is allocated to at least two families in need, ensuring that our donors fulfill their obligation to the fullest.

Question: How much money does one need to donate in order to fulfill the Mitzvah according to the obligation and according to the higher level- Hidur Mitzvah?

Answer: The more the merrier and the more one adds so he will be blessed in the heavens  

The Rabbis, Chazal, did not mark a specific monetary value beyond a Shave Prutaequal to dime; however they do note that the amount should allow the person to purchase a meal for the average family.

Question: Who is obligated to give Matanot L’evyonim?

Answer: Every Jew, man and woman, who is of the age of obligation by Mitzvot.

Question: Is there any value in making the donation before Purim?

Answer: Definitely. Donating ahead of time will help us put aside the amount of funds necessary before Purim in order to ensure that each donor fulfills their obligation of the Mitzvah to the fullest.

Question: Is Paamonim organization responsible for this initiative? Why?

Answer: Yes, Paamonim is responsible for this initiative. We operate all year long helping families emerge from financial crisis, and we are very familiar with the families and their situation.  Each family that undergoes our economic recovery process is recorded in our CRM database, as well as the monetary support they will receive with your donations on Purim. We work throughout the entire country, and choose the recipients of your Matanot L’evyonim ahead of time, in order to ensure that your obligation of the Mitzvah is fulfilled.
