Details in the article … Managing volunteers is one of the most significant challenges of social organizations, all the more so for an organization like Paamonim that engages with an average of 3,000 volunteers involved in a wide range of roles.

Training for the various tasks, connecting volunteers to the work and the organizational spirit, maintaining and improving professionalism as well as sustaining their sense of gratification requires resources and hands on management.  For this purpose, approx. 260 volunteers are involved in leading and managing the volunteers nationwide in Israel.

Subsequent to a challenging two-year period in which in person meetings were seldom held, learning sessions for volunteer team leaders were finally conducted during the first quarter of 2022, for those that make up the administrative back bone of Paamonims family services.

The excitement in wake of the in person meetings held across five centers in Israel was evident in the response, attendance and energetic involvement of the volunteers.

These meetings presented a great opportunity for the team leaders to meet with Paamonim’s recently appointed CEO, Zvika Goldberg, who told them a little about himself and, shared his visions. Likewise, the team leaders also shared their thoughts and insights about the organization and its activities.

Under management of Dorit Yemini, Director of accompaniment and family services, and masterminded by Natanel Fisher, Director of organizational training and learning, the team leaders enhanced and elevated necessary skills required to lead professional and personal discourse with volunteers, and further expanded volunteer’s proficiency through deployment of a newly generated interactive tools developed by Paamonim’s learning and knowledge team.

These sessions represented the third stage of a multi-year program (headed by sixteen area managers, a team of regional counselors and professional consultants) formed to articulate varying needs of supported households with the aim to lead them towards long-term financial stability.

So how do you lead an organization with 3,000 volunteers?

We attribute this to recruiting and training best in class volunteers including managers, instructors, regional consultants and counselors.
